Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs Appoints New Director Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs Appoints New Director of Corporate Services

Chief Executive, Dr Colin Tukuitonga, today announced the appointment of Wayne Jack to the new Director of Corporate Services position at the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs.

“The Director will play a pivotal role in reinforcing management systems,
information technology services human resource policies, and in ensuring formal
reporting requirements are met,” Dr Tukuitonga says.
Wayne brings a wealth of logistical management experience from his roles in
New Zealand’s defence services, including a tour of duty as a United Nations
Military Observer in East Timor.
There, he showed a capable hand in crisis management during a serious grenade
incident, controlling information exchanges between Peacekeeping and
Indonesian forces. He was awarded a Force Commander’s Commendation for
his part in the incident.
“While the Ministry may not offer challenges quite that dramatic, Wayne’s skills
and experience will help the Ministry to build a solid corporate framework for its
work in developing effective policies that benefit Pacific peoples in New Zealand,”
says Dr Tukuitonga.
A Chartered Accountant, Wayne is currently completing a Masters in Leadership
and – when he can juggle the time – indulging his sporting passions (his past
achievements include swimming Cook Strait!)
Wayne Jack moves from a position at the Ministry of Civil Defence and
Emergency Management, to be welcomed to the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs
on 26 May 2008.
